The school family stewardship forms that were mailed out are a REQUIRED part of the registration process for the 2012-2013 school year.  If you have not turned in your school stewardship form please do so as soon as possible.  All school families were REQUIRED to turn in their forms by May 15^th.  Any remaining forms can be turned into the rectory or you can place them in the collection basket at mass.

All families requesting tuition assistance for Blessed Sacrament School are required to complete the FACTS Assessment prior to meeting with Fr. Sullivan.  If you do not have access to a computer please call the rectory at 402-474-4249 and computer access will arranged.

FACTS Grant & Aid Assessment uses key personal and financial information to evaluate your need for financial aid. By completing an application, you will provide the necessary information to help your school administrators make an informed decision about awarding financial assistance.

The first step of the process is to complete the online application as accurately as possible. You will then need to submit your Federal income tax return, W-2 forms, and supporting documentation for non-taxable income to the FACTS office.

FACTS Grant & Aid Assessment will then make a recommendation to the educational institution on how much financial assistance is needed by each family that has applied. The final decision on how much financial aid to be given to each family will rest with the educational institution.

Make sure you have the following items on hand before you fill out the online assessment:

• Copies of your most recent IRS Federal Form 1040, 1040A or 1040-EZ U.S. Individual Income Tax Return. If applicant and co-applicant file separately, we require both tax returns for the same tax year.
• Copies of all 2010 W-2 Wage and Tax Statements for both the applicant and co-applicant. NOTE: If you are applying before you have received all the 2010 W-2 Wage and Tax Statements, please submit them as soon as they become available.
• Copies of all supporting tax schedules if you have income from any of the following*:
  • Business – (Form 1040 Line 12) Attach Schedule C or C-EZ and Form 4562 Depreciation and Amortization
  • Farm – (Form 1040 Line 18) Attach Schedule F and Form 4562 Depreciation and Amortization
  • Rental Property – (Form 1040 Line 17) Attach Schedule E (page 1)
  • S-Corporation – (Form 1040 Line 17) Attach Schedule E (page 2), Form 1120S (4 pages), Schedule K-1 and Form 8825
  • Partnership – (Form 1040 Line 17) Attach Schedule E (page 2), Form 1065 (5 pages), Schedule K-1 and Form 8825

*IMPORTANT: If you file a tax return but do not have W-2 wages because you are self-employed, you will be required to submit a copy of your 2010 Federal Form 1040 Tax Return.

• Copies of all supporting documentation for household Non-Taxable Income such as: Social Security Income, Welfare, Child Support, Food Stamps, Workers’ Compensation, and Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF).

Please allow 2 to 4 weeks for your application and supporting tax documents to be processed. We are unable to verify receipt of documents until they are scanned into our system, which takes approximately 2 to 3 business days. Faxed applications will not be accepted. Application deadlines are set by the school or institution awarding the scholarships. If you are applying after a given deadline date, please contact your school or institution to ensure that your application will be accepted. At some time or another, most families experience some type of transition. Whatever the situation or the circumstances, transitions affect families, and the children in the family are no exception. Sometimes, the adults are easily lost in their own transitions and the concerns connected to them, therefore failing to recognize signs that their children are having difficulties, too. Adults should not take for granted that children will adjust easily to the changes.

Learn to recognize these transitions, understand what children are going thru, and help children in transition.

Recently I sent out a reminder to parents that Blessed Sacrament School could not be responsible for electronic items brought to school. Today I received the following directive from the Diocesan Education Office.

Because of unfiltered online access, iPads, e-readers (Kindle, Nook, etc) are not allowed to be used in our schools.

As with cell phones, these items must remain in the backpack during the day and may not be used.

This Diocesan policy was implemented to protect our students from unfiltered on-line access. I understand that not all devices have on-line access, but that is not our call.
